Chicks

We have started a new venture....Chicks. The day we brought them home the kids could hardly stay away from them. I have never seen them stare at something for so long. I can see why.... the chicks are so cute and interesting to watch when you have not had them before. We even ate watching the chicks!
They are almost a week old in this photo. We have them in a water trough in the garage. So far we have had no casualties from the dogs or cats. We now realize that we must hurry and get a chicken coop outside. They will soon out grow their small home in the garage. This has been good for the kids. They are responsible for feeding and watering. Since I take care of the horses, we felt they needed some of their own animal responsibilities. Hopefully by the end of summer we will add gathering eggs to their chores. :0)

How fun! Those little babies are adorable!

And gathering eggs from the chicken coop is the one chore my 3 year old begs me to do! I dont think it is a chore at all for him. Something about that is so exciting, even to me!

Good luck!

Did you get a rooster in there? That will make your place real official. a place like yours needs a cock-a-doodle-dooo in the mornings!

Cool! They are so adorable and fun. I had them when I was a kid too and we would mark them with different colored markers on their backs to tell whose was whose. Good memories! I'm glad your kiddos are getting to have the same kind of fun. I'm sure they will take great care of them. :)
