Life Cereal

When we moved to this house, the only fencing on the entire 2.5 acres was a large back yard. Slowly but surely we have been trying to get our horses moved up and situated. Once I could get around better after my injury, we decided to bring Harrison and Cassidy's horses up from the valley and put them in portable pens in the back yard. Of course, I felt sorry for them having to be locked up in the pens all the time, so I would turn them into the back yard during the day. Somehow, the kids discovered that Scooby, Harrison's horse, loved Life cereal. So they began feeding it to him as treats. He soon began to come on the porch and stand by the back door waiting for a treat. He even started trying to turn the door knob with his mouth. It was really funny. If the door was not completely closed he would nudge it open with his nose and stick his head in looking for a treat. One day, Jeff and I were in the front yard and Harrison walked out and calmly said "Scooby is in the house". We went running in and there he was standing in the kitchen like he owned the place. It was sooo weird to see a horse in the house! I wanted to get my camera, but Jeff was pretty intent on getting him out before he made a hole in the floor or something. (I have since had the urge to bring him in again just to get a picture, but I would be so busted if something happened. :) Anyway, we got him safely out. We since have brought up an additional horse (now we have 3 here) and we have the back half of the yard sectioned off so they can't come onto the porch. I plan on leaving my Christmas lights up all year long, so I think as soon as the pigs and chickens come, we will reach redneck status! And that ain't no joke. Bye for now, ya'll!! :)
