Moving In

Over the weekend, we were able to "move in" to the barn. The weather has been nice, so we have not kept horses in it, but it has been fun to use it. Cassidy and I tied up our horses and used the new "grooming" stalls. It was sooooo nice to close the barn doors and work out of the wind. The chickens were also moved in to their fancy new home.

And the goats........I will no longer leave in the morning to take the kids to school and find the goats standing on the roof of the car......wish I had a picture of that one.....yes, we are rednecks and I love it. I have learned a lot since getting goats. The biggest lesson is that they are escape artists. It seemed like no matter what I did to fix their pen, they would somehow find a way to get out. And of course, they headed straight for the garden and my flowers. So, I planned their new pen and barn stall very carefully. I call it Alcatraz. It consists of high solid walls and is surrounded by deep and wide water on all sides. The only access is an electric draw bridge, and I alone keep the key. Just kidding....but they will NOT be escaping from their newly designed home.

The inside with the breezeway doors closed. Notice above our barn cat. What would a barn be without a barn cat? We have 5 of them running around. I promised Cassidy she could have 10, but she has been satisfied with 5 of various ages and sizes.
This is the view from the side. I think I have decided to paint the shutters and the doors hunter green to match the roof. That will be next weeks project.
