Winter Chores

One reason we live in a place like this is so our kids can learn the value of work. We try to include them in the necessary chores that need to be done in order to keep our home warm and animals fed. Here they are stacking wood on our back porch.Jeff will sometimes make it easier for them by carrying it from the wood pile in the bucket of the tractor. This way they don't have to lug it from the pile to the porch. Everyone works hard and does their part to keep the chores done and things taken care of.Wait a minute......whats this.....sleeping on the job again. I mean everyone except the cats work hard to do their part. Why can't these cats be more useful. Oh how I wish they could spend their time helping with chores like the rest of us instead of napping all afternoon. Yawn.......Maybe they think their contribution is to just cuddle and look cute. They actually are not even supposed to be in the house. But somehow (mostly through their friend Cassidy), they find their way inside to nap. Maybe they think their contribution is to cuddle with guests. Or Xbox gaming moral support.
Or maybe just to greet me in the laundry room. I guess for now I will let them slide (or nap), but come spring, I had better not find any varmints (aka mice, rats etc) near my house. Then they will be making a valid contribution besides just looking cuddly and cute. ;)
