The Saturday BEFORE Christmas...9am

The Saturday before Christmas is when we traveled the 3 hours from our home to the "Valley" a.k.a. Gilbert and Mesa to celebrate Christmas with our families. It was a whirlwind weekend filled with lots of fun, laughter and present opening. It stared at my parents at 9am with a breakfast. I wish I would have gotten a picture of the spread Mom had for breakfast, but pictures would not have done the taste justice. Fruit, muffins, ham, eggs, hash browns, orange juice, yum, yum, yum. Then it was off to the living room for the traditional present opening. Harrison was first to dig through the mountain of presents. It was especially fun to watch cousin Kyle who turned one year old this year.Harrison gave him his Hummer fire truck. It was the first present opened because Harrison and Cassidy were so excited to give it to him. They know how much he loves to play with trucks and this was one of Harrison's personal favorites.Harrison knew this would be a present he would love when Grandma wanted to take his picture opening it.And he was right. It was the same puzzle car game that he loves to play with Grandma. He just can't get enough of it, and now he has one of his very own. He went to work on it immediately.Meanwhile, Cassidy and Emily opened a few "matching" gifts. This particular one was Princess Hopscotch. And from Lizzie, matching pink and black cat purses with lip glass inside, of course. The joke in our family is this Arizona Cardinals license plate that gets passed around and opened year after year. No one in the family likes the license plate and I am sure it is not funny to anyone else but us. But it is just one of those crazy family traditions that makes everyone laugh because you never know who will open it. This year my brother Mike put a twist in things by giving cute little Kyle a Cardinals bib. This brought out lots of jokes and laughs. But the funniest was on Mike because he was given the license plate present this year. hahahehehahahehe :)Wow, I did not know there was a beautiful blue area rug in this room until all the presents were opened. :) The room sure transformed in a small amount of time! After the presents are opened, I love watching the kids experiment and play. Cassidy and Emily started by getting the cards in the new Memory game ready. Notice the bows they are wearing on their heads. Cute, don't you think? I am sure they also had on the lip gloss that Lizzie gave them.

What a great Christmas party. The only thing we needed was more time to spend together! Thanks everyone....we love you so much and feel so blessed to have such a great family to share Christmas with!!
