When the house gets quiet......

Have any of you Moms out there noticed that when the house gets quiet the kids are always up to something? That was the case a couple days ago when Harrison was at school and I was home with Cassidy. Those of you that have been reading my blog for a while may remember the poem I wrote about her and how she coaxed her pony to the fence with food then jumped on (with no bridle, etc). Well, now she is getting a little more creative. She not only wants to just sit on the pony, she wants to guide him where she wants to go. I keep all the halters and bridles locked up in the tack room so she had to find other means to guide the pony while riding him. So......when I noticed the house was extra quiet, I immediately looked outside in the barn for Cassidy. Of course, that is where I found her. She had fed Bart some hay to get him to hold still and she was in the process of tying twine together and around him to make something to hold on to and to guide him with. I don't know, maybe I should just make it easier for her and leave the bridle out. :) I immediately thought back to my childhood when I was her age (5) and snuck out my 2nd story window while my Mom thought I was peacefully taking a nap. I headed across the street to ride the neighbors pony. I wonder if when my Mom noticed that my quiet nap time was taking way too long she knew immediately where to look for me? I think from an early age the symptoms of O.C.E.A.N. Syndrome (Obsessive Compulsive Equine Attachment Neurosis) have shown in both Cassidy and I. Good thing we have plenty of medication!
